Never Let Me Go--- Six

Quote from page 67:
But I wanted to talk about my tape.
I thought I'd take this sixth blog to discuss some similarities and differences between Never Let Me Go and Brave New World. First- the differences! NLMG has clear, concise sections that are often alluded to in the previous section (like in the above quote); BNW is just confusing and disorganized, especially in the third chapter when everyone's conversations run together! Ishiguro employs a first person point of view while Huxley opts for a third person point of view. BNW is told through chronological events; NLMG is told as a series of flashbacks. Both styles work for their respective perspectives and content.

And now- the similarities! Both titles of the books are allusions to another work (BNW to The Tempest, NLMG to a Judy Bridgewater song). Both stories have a bit of a love triangle. Also, both novels are about twisted morals and the lack of limitations on scientific discovery.

I'm hoping NLMG won't end in such a tragic way as BNW, but either way, it's been a good read.

Until Next Time,
Alysse
