It never crossed my mind for a long time a letter might not come.I found a bit of dramatic irony in this story. Edie seems to see Chris Watters as her liberator, someone who will rescue her from her current worklife, take her on fabulous adventures, and love her forever. Based on his behavior, the reader can assume Watters has none of these things in mind. He is running away from his fiancée and messing around with other girls while he's engaged. Clearly, he's not boyfried material. Sorry, Edie, but he's just not that into you.
The way the story ended reminded me so much of "How I Met Your Mother". The whole story was about this person who is not her husband, but even though it seems irrelevant, it's what got her to the mailbox to meet her husband. So now I present you a clip from possibly my favorite HIMYM episode ever, "Slapsgiving":
The best part has to be the look on Marshall's face when Lilly tells him he can slap Barney.
Until Next Time,
Alysse
